Healer

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name!

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity,

who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit,

 who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy,

who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.”

Psalm 103:1-5

Why do you praise the Lord?  Seems like sort of a silly question, doesn’t it?  But when was the last time you really sat down and thought about this question.  David does this here in Psalm 103.  He begins by declaring the holiness of the name of the Lord.  This is where I believe we must also begin in order to adequately prepare our hearts for corporate worship.  You have heard may say time and time again that only after we have a correct view of the Lord and ourselves in relationship to the Lord will we be having true worship.  True worship comes from hearts that recognize the exaltation and glory of God which comes from His holiness, the fact that he is completely set apart from us!

After this is established, David then lists five benefits we receive from the Lord.  In summary, he forgives, heals, redeems, crowns, and satisfies.  Worship leader Kari Jobe recently recorded a song dealing with one of these benefits: He heals all your diseases.  This song of Mike Guglieimucci has been recorded by other artists, but Jobe’s interpretation of the song is the one I find most compelling.  She recently recorded a video to go along with the song after the song was used to minister to a family praying for healing.  You can view the video at www.youremyhealer.com.  I encourage you to check out the video when you get home.  For now, I encourage you to spend some time meditating on these five benefits of the Lord.

You hold my every moment, You calm my raging seas;

You walk with me through fire And heal all my disease.  I trust in You, I trust in You.

I believe You're my healer, I believe You are all I need;

And I believe You're my portion, I believe You're more than enough for me, Jesus, You're all I need.

You hold my every moment, You calm my raging seas;

You walk with me through fire And heal all my disease.  I trust in You, I trust in You.

I believe You're my healer, I believe You are all I need;

And I believe You're my portion, I believe You're more than enough for me, Jesus, You're all I need.

Nothing is impossible for You, Nothing is impossible;

Nothing is impossible for You, You hold my world in Your hands.

Nothing is impossible for You, Nothing is impossible;

Nothing is impossible for You, You hold my world in Your hands.

I believe You're my healer, I believe You are all I need O, yes, You are, yes, You are;

I believe You're my portion, Lord, I believe You're more than enough for me,

Jesus, You're all I need, more than enough for me, Jesus, You're all I need.

The Bible Says:

For throughout all their journeys, the cloud of the LORD was on the tabernacle by day, and there was fire in it by night, in the sight of all the house of Israel.  (Exodus 40:38, NASB)
