Westside Whistle V.3 I. 2

Are you going to be ready when the Lord calls?

“His blood will wash away our sin and make us as pure as newly fallen snow .”

B IBLE BYTE:

PSALM 51:1-19
(A Contrite Sinner's Prayer for Pardon)

1 Be gracious to me, O God, according to Your lovingkindness;
A
ccording to the greatness of Your compassion blot out my transgressions.
2 Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity
And cleanse me from my sin.
3 For I know my transgressions,
And my sin is ever before me.
4 Against You, You only, I have sinned
And done what is evil in Your sight,
So that You are justified when You speak
And blameless when You judge.
5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity,
And in sin my mother conceived me.
6 Behold, You desire truth in the innermost being,
And in the hidden part You will make me know wisdom.
7 Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean;
Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness,
Let the bones which You have broken rejoice.
9 Hide Your face from my sins
And blot out all my iniquities.
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God,
And renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11 Do not cast me away from Your presence
And do not take Your Holy Spirit from me.
12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation
And sustain me with a willing spirit.
13 Then I will teach transgressors Your ways,
And sinners will be converted to You.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my
salvation;
Then my tongue will joyfully sing of Your righteousness.
15 O Lord, open my lips,
That my mouth may declare Your praise.
16 For You do not delight in sacrifice, otherwise I would give it;
You are not pleased with burnt offering.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit;
A broken and a contrite heart, O God, You will not
despise.
18 By Your favor do good to Zion;
Build the walls of Jerusalem.
19 Then You will delight in righteous sacrifices,
In burnt offering and whole burnt offering;
Then young bulls will be offered on Your altar.

WBC “GREATER THINGS”:
Wednesday evenings, Westside Baptist is doing “GREATER THINGS” in our community.
What are you doing Wednesday evenings? We are meeting at the Clarity Solutions Center located at 116 E. Memorial Drive in E-Town starting at 6:30 pm.  We always have a time of prayer and then community service work to follow.  The little projects and tasks we are performing to help the Clarity Center are making a difference for those that come there seeking assistance.  We may not be able to move mountains, but every job we do to improve things for others is a blessing for both the recipient and the worker at the same time.  We all have many talents and skills, so why not join us Wednesday evening and user your gifts God blessed you with for the betterment of our community.   We hope to see you there.

SMALL GROUPS ARE BECOMING ONE:
Effective February 7th, both the Moore and the Taul SMALL groups will be merging into one united group for a few months.  The Eastridge family still wants to host the united group at their home Sunday evenings.  If you have not been involved in our small groups now it the time for you to give it a try.  You will build a stronger relationship with your fellow WBC brothers and sisters, gain greater understanding of God, and partake in a great fellowship time as well.  We encourage you to get involved, so come and give it a try starting in February.

WINTER WEATHER WORSHIP CANCELATIONS::
With the predicted heavy snow coming for area tonight and through tomorrow, we wanted to remind you of the WBC’s policy regarding winter weather and church cancelations.
WE WANT TO ALWAYS TRY TO HOLD ALL OUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED SERVICES. In the chance that must cancel services, we will post notices on the website, send out a text message notice, send out an email,, or try to contact you as best we can.  But if you do not feel safe driving due to poor weather conditions, it is up to you to decide on to try to attend or not.  Your safety comes first.  The leadership at WBC wants you to be safe, but we also want you to be active in your church.  This is not any type of change; we have always operated in the idea that as long as humanly possible we want to always hold our regular services and programs for you.  Stay warm, stay safe, and stay focused on God first.

If you know of an event, concert, or item of interest you would like shared through this newsletter, please email the details to Robbie Blair at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  I will do my best to get them in the next week’s newsletter for you.

IN CLOSING
Through Jesus sacrifice; those that openly and truly trust and follow Him our sins will be washed clean at our final judgment when Jesus gladly says father I know this person, forgive them.  Upon that we will be reborn a new and be as pure as snow in the eyes of our Lord and Savior.  Our name will be recorded in the book of life for eternity, and we will get to glorify in the ultimate beauty of God.  This is true, but that does not mean that we have free rein to sin; in fact it mean just the opposite.  We must now hold each other more accountable and help those that are sinning out and help them back onto a path of righteousness with forgiveness, kindness, and guidance.  Yes we all have sinned, are sinning now, and will sin in the future, but it is through being held accountable that we can be kept on the correct path to becoming more Christ-like each day.  When you are feeling at your weakest that is when you need your church family the most to help keep you accountable to yourself, to your church, and to Christ.  So if you are feeling week, just remember that God loves and forgives, and that your church family will gladly be here to help hold yourself accountable.  God bless you one and all.

Serving Our Savior,

Robert Blair,
Westside Baptist Church Elder
