A Dilemma (Story of Joseph #5)
Joseph was a young man who was betrayed by his brothers and sold as a slave. He wound up second in command of all Egypt, and literally won the wealth of the world for Pharaoh. At the same time he provided security and prosperity for his own family, the fledgling nation of Israel. After seeing the tension between the brothers and Joseph, in the text today we'll finally witness the violent outpouring of that tension. Violence and hatred, yes -- but if we skip to the end of the story (Gen 50:20), we find that God was at the heart of it! If God ordained the violence against Joseph, are the brothers still guilty of sin? What about any violence we've shown in our lives? If it was the will of God, perhaps against the target of our hostility, are we still guilty of sin? Listen to how we should resolve this dilemma...
